Medical Staff

Appleton Area Health Services is staffed by three full-time physicians and a full-time nurse practitioner.

Your physician directs your medical treatment while you are a patient at our facility. S/he diagnoses and prescribes treatment, while we provide the facilities and services. The physician is a member of the medical staff, and is highly trained and qualified. Your physician will order and arrange all necessary services for you while you are a patient here.




Dr. R.V. Kabatay, M.D.
Dr. R.V. Kabatay Dr. R.V. Kabatay joined the Appleton Medical Clinic in 1979. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Santo Thomas. He then earned his medical degree from the same university. He did his rotating internships at the Manila Medical Center and at the Batangas Regional Hospital in the Philippines. He then completed four years of residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago for Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Dr. Kabatay is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of the Minnesota Medical Association, Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians, Philippine Minnesota Medical Association, Camp Release Medical Society, and serves on the Executive Board the Minnesota Rural Health Cooperative. He is also the medical director of the Appleton Nursing Home as well as medical advisor to Hospice.

He is experienced in family medicine from pediatrics to geriatrics.


Dr. F.S. Austria, M.D.
Dr.  F.S. Austria Dr. Austria joined the Appleton Medical Clinic in 1983. He graduated from the Far Eastern University in the Philippines in 1969 where he received his medical degree. His Straight General Surgical Internship was done at Jersey City Medical Center, Public Health Service in Chamberlain, S.D. He did his general surgery residency training at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and also worked at West Baltimore Community Clinic in Baltimore before moving to Appleton.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Minnesota Medical Association, Philippine American Medical Association of Minnesota, Mid-Minnesota Society, Minnesota Rural Health Cooperative, and he is the Medical Advisor for the Home Health Care Board.

He provides a full spectrum of family medicine including obstetrical care.


Deborah Colon
Deborah Colon, NP Deborah Colon joined Appleton Area Health Services in 2004. She completed her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota in 1996 and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from NDSU in 2004. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

As a nurse practitioner, Deborah, in collaboration with a physician, provides care to patients of all ages. This includes all aspects of family medicine from disease prevention to diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and chronic disease. She is trained to work with all family members ranging from infants to the elderly.

Deborah's goal is to provide holistic care for individuals and families and to help patients achieve their highest level of wellness. She will take time to listen to your health concerns and provide information and education to help you make informed decisions about your own health and wellness.

Professional associations include Minnesota Rural Health Cooperative and Camp-Release Medical Society.

Deborah has a daughter Nicole. Her hobbies include movies, music, computers and spending time with friends and family.


Dr. Nida Nora Miniano
Dr. Miniano Dr. Miniano joined the AAHS team in 2005. She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, and received her doctorate degree in medicine from the University of the East, Philippines. Dr. Miniano attended the National Children's Hospital in the Philippines where she earned her Medical Specialist in Pediatrics. She also completed her Family Medicine Residency at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California.

Dr. Miniano is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

She provides a full spectrum of family medicine with emphasis in pediatrics and non-high risk obstetrics.

Dr. Miniano is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, California Academy of Family Physicians, and the Minnesota Rural Health Cooperative.
