Big Stone Therapies, Inc. is pleased to partner with Appleton Area Health to provide inpatient, outpatient, and long term care rehabilitation services.
Physical Therapy provides a full spectrum of care to help patients regain strength, mobility, and functionality. They offer treatment for including, but not limited to: orthopedics, post-surgical rehabilitation; joint rehabilitation; walking or balance disorders; back and neck disorders; joint and muscle pain; sports injuries, arthritis management; stroke rehabilitation; chronic pain related issues, dementia; chronic headaches, concussion rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological issues.
Occupational Therapy focuses on improving your ability to perform activities of daily living. Services include, but are not limited to hand therapy (elbow, wrist and hand); home safety assessment; upper extremity functional exercise (coordination, strengthening, range of motion, and sensory training); activities of daily living retraining (for home or work); and adaptive equipment recommendations; wheelchair evaluations; cognitive and memory assessments and as well as treatment for lymphedema.
The Speech-language Pathologist works with the full range of communication and its associated disorders, evaluates and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in outpatients and inpatients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Therapies for swallowing disorders, stroke impairments, voice disorders, cognition and memory deficits are offered.

Kelly and her husband Bart have five children: Hayley, Alyssa, Sydney, Layton, and Avery. The live on a farm near Nassau, MN. Kelly earned her B.S. in HPER Teaching, biology and Athletic Training at South Dakota State University. She earned her A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant at Lake Area Technical Institute.
She is FMS Certified – Level 2, a Graston Technique ® Therapy Provider, certified in SLVT BIG, Workwell trained, certified in Concussion Management and a member of both NATA and APTA. Her professional interests include occupational health, sports medicine, and concussion management and treatment. In her free time, Kelly enjoys playing sports, going to ball games, 4H, exercising, and school/church activities.
Dan and his wife Rachel live in Ortonville, MN Dan is a graduate of Ortonville High School and earned his B.S in Biology at Concordia College Moorhead and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Jamestown.
He is a member of the APTA. His professional interests include rural healthcare, geriatrics, orthopedics, pain science, and chronic illness and in his spare time he enjoys exercise, hiking, traveling, sports, reading, music, theater, and spending time with family and friends.
Melissa grew up in Graceville, MNH. she lives in Madison, MN with her husband Patrick and daughter Sophia. Melissa earned her B.S. in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences and her M.S. in Speech Language Pathology at MSUM.
She is LSVT LOUD Certified, is Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile Certified and is a member of ASHA. Her professional interests included dysphasia and articulation and in her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time at the lakec volunteering int he community and reading.
Alyssa is from Hutchinson, Minnesota and now resides in Appleton. Alyssa earned her A.A.S in Occupational Therapy Assistant at Lake Area Technical Institute. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and is starting up a new lymphedema program here in Appleton.
Her professional interests include Lymphedema, neurological conditions, and pediatrics. In her spare time she enjoys outdoor activities, golfing, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
Kellie and her husband Taylor live in Appleton. She is a graduate of Lac qui Parle Valley high school and earned her A.A.S in Physical Therapist Assistant at Lake Area Technical Institute.
Kellie is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and is a Graston Technique ® Therapy Provider. Her professional interests include orthopedics and geriatrics and in her spare time she enjoys running, doing DIY projects, summers at the lake and spending time with family.
Emily was born and raised in Minnesota and enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling, reading, watching old movies and listening to music.
She earned her B.A. in Biology from St. Olaf Collage and her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Drake University. Emily is a member of AOTA and MOTA. Her professional interests include stroke, brain injury rehabilitation, chronic & progressive conditions, and industrial modifications.
Tiffany grew up in Sioux Falls and then Milbank, South Dakota. She lives in Milbank with her husband Dean and their children Jada Leigh and TyLynn. Tiffany earned her A.A.S in Occupational Therapy Assistant at Lake Area Technical Institute.
Tiffany is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Her professional interests include orthopedic injuries and Lymphedema. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, darts, camping, snowmobiling, motorcycling and exercising.
