Big Stone Therapies, Inc. is pleased to partner with Appleton Area Health to provide Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy to inpatient, outpatient, and long term care rehabilitation services, as well as Cardiac Rehabilitation services.

Physical Therapy provides a full spectrum of care to help patients regain strength, mobility, and functionality. They offer treatment for including, but not limited to: orthopedics, post-surgical rehabilitation; joint rehabilitation; walking or balance disorders; back and neck disorders; joint and muscle pain; sports injuries, arthritis management; stroke rehabilitation; chronic pain related issues, dementia; chronic headaches, concussion rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease and other neurological issues.

 

Occupational Therapy focuses on improving your ability to perform activities of daily living. Services include, but are not limited to hand therapy (elbow, wrist and hand); home safety assessment; upper extremity functional exercise (coordination, strengthening, range of motion, and sensory training); activities of daily living retraining (for home or work); and adaptive equipment recommendations; wheelchair evaluations; cognitive and memory assessments and as well as treatment for lymphedema.

 

The Speech-language Pathologist works with the full range of communication and its associated disorders, evaluates and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in outpatients and inpatients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Therapies for swallowing disorders, stroke impairments, voice disorders, cognition and memory deficits are offered.

Appleton Area Health and Big Stone Therapies have partnered to offer Cardiac Rehabilitation services. Patients are referred by their provider or cardiologist after recovering from a cardiac event or after a surgery that has been done to treat heart disease. Patients are scheduled three times per week. Education is provided on topics such as lifestyle changes, exercise, healthy eating, medications, emotional health, and managing symptoms. Our goal is to return patients to and active healthy lifestyle.

Kelly Wittenebel

Clinic Manager

Kelly and her husband Bart have five children:  Hayley, Alyssa, Sydney, Layton, and Avery.  They live on a farm near Nassau, MN.  Kelly earned her B.S. in HPER Teaching, biology and Athletic Training at South Dakota State University.  She earned her A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant at Lake Area Technical Institute. 

 

She is FMS Certified – Level 2, a Graston Technique ® Therapy Provider, certified in SLVT BIG, Workwell trained, certified in Concussion Management and a member of both NATA and APTA.  Kelly is Therapeutic Pain Science Certified which is utilized to treat patient with chronic pain. Her professional interests include occupational health, sports medicine, and concussion management and treatment.  In her free time, Kelly enjoys playing sports, going to ball games, 4H, exercising, and school/church activities.

Kailey Van Eps

Kailey was born and raised in Pennock, MN. Her parents are Brian and Kari who live on a hobby farm and work in Willmar. She has an older brother who is an auto mechanic in Kandiyohi. She has one cat named Hoosier. 

Kailey attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth to earn a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and the University of Mary in Bismarck to earn a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy. Her professional interests include hand therapy, orthopedics, and pediatrics. 

In her free time, Kailey enjoys spending time at the lake with friends and family, traveling, going to sporting events, and spending her weekends racing her racecar at various dirt tracks throughout the Midwest.

Kellie and her husband Taylor live in Appleton.  She is a graduate of Lac qui Parle Valley high school and earned her A.A.S in Physical Therapist Assistant at Lake Area Technical Institute. 

 

Kellie is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and is a Graston Technique ® Therapy Provider.  Her professional interests include orthopedics and geriatrics and in her spare time she enjoys running, doing DIY projects, summers at the lake and spending time with family.

Nia was born near the Twin Cities and grew up in St. Michael, MN.  After high school, she moved to Alexandria, MN where she lived for several years and attended Alexandria Technical College for an AA degree in general studies. Nia later moved to Madison, MN to be closer to family. She then attended college in Watertown, SD obtaining an AAS degree in Occupational Therapy.

 

While she enjoys working with all demographics, she has particular interest in geriatrics and stroke rehabilitation.

 

In her free time, Nia likes to travel, camp, spend time in or on the water, and be with family and friends.

Jordan was born and raised in Madison, MN.  Her parents are Terri and Terry who farm and raise pigs west of Madison. She has an older sister who is married with 2 little kids and a younger brother. She is married to Brandon Bornhorst.

Jordan attended University of Minnesota, Morris to earn a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Sport Management and the University of Mary to earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Her professional interests include Women's Health and Geriatrics.

In her free time Jordan enjoys participating in rodeos, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and watching and participating in sports.
